Tony Strong has worked extensively in the film, theatre and photographic industries, producing backdrops and painted effects of every imaginable kind-from West End theatrical productions to film sets for Stanley Kubrick to stage shows for The Who, in window displays and magazines, at events and exhibitions and on the walls of hotels and private houses.

Originally trained at the Royal Opera House Tony continued to work there for six years. This theatrical background has given him a very thorough knowledge of painting media, perspective, period styles and architecture.

An experienced scenic artist with skills in landscape as well as figurative painting Tony is versatile in different media from acrylic to oil and tempera paint producing a range of work from trompe l’oeil to period tapestries to photo realism.

Having painted backings varying from approximately 10’ x 10’ to 350’ cyclorama backings, gauzes, special portraits, murals, glass matte shots Tony can paint in any style, perhaps drawing on several styles in one film.

In addition to feature films Tony has painted scenic artwork for many television productions, events, exhibitions and stills photographers, as well as hundreds of TV commercials worldwide.
